Film Workshop: Editing Diversity

Film editing lecture and hands-on workshop focusing on gender and sexual diversity films. It will introduce participants to the effects of montage in cinema, and its development within film history and theory.

Case Study: The Secret Files of Amylton de Almeida Director’s Cut (2004/2013, documentary, 52 min., dir. Hudson Moura). For 40 years Amylton de Almeida was one of the most prolific and influential Brazilian documentarians and film critics, as well as a LGBT and cultural activist. He died of emphysema in 1995, just before the beginning of the editing of his debut work as a fictional feature director, inspired by Douglas Sirk and Rainer W. Fassbinder films. A few days later, his family discovered five letters addressed to five friends; his secret files.

Dr. Hudson Moura teaches film and media courses at OCAD University and Ryerson University. Also, he serves as programmer at BRAFFTV-Brazilian Film and Television Festival.
